before the big three oh

A friend posted this on FB, and it got me thinking (yet again). Dami rin time ni mam!

By 30, you should have ...

1. One old boyfriend you can imagine going back to and one who reminds you of how far you’ve come.
- This is more of the latter. I was just talking to a friend last night how stupid we were during our old relationships. Wow parang andami din a, relationshipS. No, but seriously I like how I can finally laugh at myself for things I shouldn't have done but I'm glad I did cause now I'd like to believe I know better. Blush.

2. A decent piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in your family.
- Still working on this shit. I want a very nice bed! Queen-size, expensive white sheets, cozy... Ito yung rurok ng singledom, kung hindi ka nagpapantasya about imaginary furniture, sobrang ikinatutuwa mo na makabili ng mabangong body wash. FTLOG!

3. Something perfect to wear if the employer or man of your dreams wants to see you in an hour.
- Ayyy gusto ko to. This is a must. I'm still searching for the perfect white button-downs. Nakita ko na yun sa Zara dati di ko pa binili. A pair of killer black pumps is a must.

4. A purse, a suitcase, and an umbrella you’re not ashamed to be seen carrying.
- Nada! Will work on this.

5. A youth you’re content to move beyond.
- Yes, definitely. Done, done, done.

6. A past juicy enough that you’re looking forward to retelling it in your old age.
- Ahahahaha! I have lots, but the first thing that came to mind was my Maalala Moment July 2010. Nothing can beat the juicy-ness and drama of that night.

7. The realization that you are actually going to have an old age -- and some money set aside to help fund it.
- If we're just talking about realization, I've had one too many of these. For the financial aspect, that's what the next four years are for.

8. An email address, a voice mailbox, and a bank account -- all of which nobody has access to but you.
- Check except for voice mailbox.

9. A résumé that is not even the slightest bit padded.
- Not interested in resumes.

10. One friend who always makes you laugh and one who lets you cry.
- Mayaman ako dito, not in quantity but quality. At least may nagawa pa pala akong tama.

11. A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.
- A set of black lace bra, like literal LACE bra. How about a set of cordless black lace bra?

12. Something ridiculously expensive that you bought for yourself, just because you deserve it.
- Yes, I do have one. But I want more. Yung literal expensive. Like Macbook or designer heels. I remember my idol Lulu Chang when she bought herself a pair of Celine sandals or Garance buying her first Hermes. It took them a long time to do that, but it was worth the wait. I want that.

13. The belief that you deserve it.
- Always.

14. A skin-care regimen, an exercise routine, and a plan for dealing with those few other facets of life that don’t get better after 30.
- Still working on this. Goodluck sa exercise routine. Yoga please.

15. A solid start on a satisfying career, a satisfying relationship, and all those other facets of life that do get better.
- Hahaha satisfying career... Kung isa akong mangingisda, ginagawa ko palang yung net. Hindi ko nga alam kung anung isda gusto kong icatch. No, alam ko na pala. Same goes with the satisfying relationship. I know. I'll wait, I'll keep on improving what needs to be improved. So we'll just keep working on the net till it's finished.

By 30, you should know ...

1. How to fall in love without losing yourself.
- I'm not sure about this. But this is a must, like the killer heels. How great would it be to be with someone who loves you and challenges you to grow all at the same time. Sweet.

2. How you feel about having kids.
- Yes, final na to.

3. How to quit a job, break up with a man, and confront a friend without ruining the friendship.
- I've done all three of them, badly.

4. When to try harder and when to walk away.
- Hahaha More practice pa dito. MOREEEE.

5. How to kiss in a way that communicates perfectly what you would and wouldn’t like to happen next.
- Saan ba pwede magpractice nito?

6. The names of the secretary of state, your great-grandmothers, and the best tailor in town.
- Hmmm ba't wala akong alam ni isa dito.

7. How to live alone, even if you don’t like to.
- I love living alone. I have learned to love it (the hard way), now I want it.

8. Where to go -- be it your best friend’s kitchen table or a yoga mat -- when your soul needs soothing.
- When I need soothing I just need a cup of coffee or a cold beer, and my one-two-three good friends. A massage, a long bath, a good book or an interesting movie...

9. That you can’t change the length of your legs, the width of your hips, or the nature of your parents.
- I have come to terms with these recently. It's all okay. It is what it is. I'm actually starting to love all three, esp the parents. Distance is the key. haha

10. That your childhood may not have been perfect, but it’s over.
- I had a great childhood, and I wish my children will have great ones too.

11. What you would and wouldn’t do for money or love.
- I would do anything for love but for money... I won't do that. - Meatloaf

12. That nobody gets away with smoking, drinking, doing drugs, or not flossing for very long.
- I know. So help me God. Kate Moss comes to mind. Tsktsk... may four years pa. sheettt

13. Who you can trust, who you can’t, and why you shouldn’t take it personally.
- I don't know how not to take it personally. I think this goes with you shouldn't take yourself too seriously. I want that character trait.

14. Not to apologize for something that isn’t your fault.
- Okay.

15. Why they say life begins at 30
- I sure hope so.
