Summer.Summer.Summer. I just can't get my mind off summer! Have I mentioned summer? Okay, just checking. This is one of my favorite editorials. A bit old, considering Gemma Ward has not modeled in awhile now. The first picture I encountered in this set was the one on the Swing. I was surprised to learn Corinne Day photographed this. She was the first photographer who took Kate Moss famous beach shots when she was like 15 or 16. What I love about this is how it reminds me of summer time at home. It's summer in the backyard, on the beach near your home, with lazy afternoon snacks in between, catching up with your family and old friends. Nothing fancy, just passing time in warm weather and familiar surroundings. My favorite shot is still Gemma standing on the fence. Would you look at the sun please? I can tell it's around 3:40 pm summertime. I remember spending my own summer as a child in my lola's house. I was in the province with rice fields, carabaos, and vegetable gardens in the backyard. My parents always wanted us to spend our summers there so that we'll get fat, eat veggies, and breath fresh air. That was always my mother's goal. And I'm glad I still have those memories, loud and vivid.

Listening to Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's Sand.

  1. Some of the best pix of Gemma, she was beautiful back then. Then she just didn't care...to throw all that away, God gave her a gift of a beautiful body, and she stuffed it away. Stupid.
